Kol Halev, which means voice of the heart in Hebrew, is the adult choir of Temple Beth Emeth in Ann Arbor, Michigan, led by Cantor Annie Rose. In the summer of 2004, this 60-voice choir catapulted to the international stage as the first Jewish-American Choir to perform a concert tour of Romania, Bulgaria, and Greece. In the summer of 2007, the choir's second international tour took them to Argentina. Two choir tenors, Stephen Haskin and Debbie Merion, brought their video cameras with them on the tours to ensure these memorable moments would be saved. Stephen has worked as a professional video editor, graphic artist, video producer, and cameraperson and Debbie is a professional writer with a love for recording the stories of our lives. They have enjoyed producing videos together for ten years. Argentina Film — Their six minute pilot film about Argentina (to become a full-length documentary) was shown at the Historic Michigan Theater on May 18, 2008. Kol Halev performed that evening with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra for an audience of 900 in honor of Israel's 60th anniversary. This film is a significant departure from their previous work. The film highlights their Argentina performances of Khalutsim Lider (Songs of the Pioneers) to pay homage to the town of Moises Ville and Israel. Moises Ville is a small town on the Argentine pampas (plains) that was established in 1889 as the first Jewish farm community in South America. Watch the six minute film here. Eastern European Film — Also available on DVD is Kol Halev In Concert: Eastern European Tour. This DVD is for sale in the Temple Beth Emeth gift shop at 734-665-4744. Here are some comments:
"A Wonderful, Personal and Inspirational Musical Odyssey" "I was so moved by it. I want to go to Argentina with you. I want to sing Jewish songs!"
